It's hard to believe our Kindergarten year is half over. We will be picking up the pace this semester in reading and math. Your child will have 2 new sounds and 2 new sight words each week. They will also be bringing home books to read as homework twice a week. Please review new skills and read nightly with your child to help them keep up and be successful in class.
January Focus: Letters Ee, Ff, Rf, Bb, Ll, Kk & review ; sight words are, he, with, is, little, she, was & review; identify sounds in beginning, middle and end of words, blending & segmenting; count to 75; addition to 10 and measurment.
Baggie Books: We will start homework baggie books this month. Your child will bring home a book in a Ziploc baggie to read to you at home for homework. Books will go home every Monday and Wednesday. Books must be returnedin order to get a new book.
Conferences: Please make sure to set up a conference time for our parent/teacher conference if we have not yet met. A schedule of times/dates will be sent home with report cards for you to choose a convient choice. A reminder will be written in the planner on the date.
100th day of school: We will celebrate the 100th day of school on Wednesday, January 18 by doing 100 activities all through the day. For snack, we will make a 100 trail mix by adding 10 pieces of 10 different items. We need small snack items such as Teddy Grahams, Fruit Loops, Cheez-its, mini marshmallows, oyster crackers, goldfish crackers, raisins, gummy bears, Cocoa Puffs, and M&Ms donated for our 100 trail mix. AR: If you have read a book at home to your child 2-3 times and your child is ready to take an AR test please write the title of the book or the AR test # in their planner. My assistant or a volunteer will test your child during the school day. We will put their score in the planner. I need parents to come in once a week to AR test children. If you are interested please let me know. Thanks!
