I can't believe we are already in the month of September! We have really begun working as a team and family in the classroom. Every day we are having so much fun learning and working together. The class continues to impress me each and every day. Thank you to all who have been helping in the classroom and to all of my families who were able to visit during Open House. Parent Night will be on Thursday OCTOBER 16th. During this informative event, you can learn more about the academic programs and materials that we will be using in 1st grade.
This Friday, September 5th, we will have our 3rd graded spelling/dictation test and our 2nd Reading Test. Please look over the previous spelling and reading test to review what future tests will be accessing. Don't forget, the words for the tests can be found in your child's agenda on the current week's page or on our website. We will practice these words in the classroom but extra practice at home is always very beneficial. Please let me know if there's anything I can help with :) I have posted a PDF of spelling activities that you can use at home at the bottom of our page.
This month we will continue to learn about subtraction and subtraction strategies in math, Johnny Appleseed and American Symbols in social studies, the 5 senses and science tools in science, and in reading we will continue to learn how to read and strengthen our comprehension skills. These skills/lessons can also be practiced at home through homework, practice/review, and by visiting our curriculum websites (ConnectEd & Thinkcentral). More information will be coming soon (AT PARENT NIGHT - Thursday, OCTOBER 16th) regarding these sites and additional resources!
Our classroom is in need of some miscellaneous items:
Snacks (No peanut ingredients please)
Magnets (Heavy Duty)
Class Plant - Indoor/Outdoor
Plastic Containers with wheels
Bags for Baggy Books
Recycled Materials (That can be
used for crafts/storage)
Other items that could be of good use in our classroom
All of these items can go toward PI time or will just be happily
accepted into the classroom :) If you would like to volunteer in the
classroom or help with things for the classroom at home please do not hesitate
to email me or write a note in your child's agenda. This is a big help
for the students and I :)
As always, don't hesitate to email me or write a note in your
child's agenda with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you for
all you do!
