                                                                           .

Welcome to OUR 1st Grade Page!

I can't believe we are already in the month of December and coming up on the end of our 2nd 9 weeks! We have already grown so much as a class and continue to work hard together to improve our academic and social skills.  Thank you to our parents for consistently being a part of our learning success. We love and appreciate you :)

The class continues to do very well with their baggy and AR books.  Please remind your child to bring their AR book & baggy book back to school every day.  They have many opportunities to read with a buddy, read on their own, take tests, and check-out new books from our school library.  These opportunities will allow for your child to accomplish their goals and build upon reading skills such as comprehension.  Many of my friends have made their 1st grade goal already or are quickly approaching it.  I am so proud of how much we have accomplished so far.

Some of the topics we will learn about this month:

Math:

-Dec 1-5~ Understand, represent, & group tens and ones

-Dec 8-12~Show numbers as tens and ones in different ways; model, read, & write numbers from 100 to 120; chapter 6 review and test

-Dec 15-19~ math fact review and fluency practice

Reading:

-Dec 1-5: Long ago and today

-Dec 8-12: From farm to table

-Dec 15-19: Holiday literature

Social Studies:

- Winter holidays

- Traditions from around the world

As always, don't hesitate to email me or write a note in your child's agenda with any questions, comments, or concerns.  Thank you for all you do!

Love,

Miss M

All of these items can go toward PI time or will just be happily accepted into the classroom :)  If you would like to volunteer in the classroom or help with things for the classroom at home, please do not hesitate to email me or write a note in your child's agenda.  This is a big help for the students and I  :)
