Happy New Year!!! I hope you all enjoyed your vacations and time off together. I always enjoy these weeks off with family but look forward to seeing the kids when we get back to school! This is an exciting time of the school year as we begin our voyage into the 2nd half of 1st grade!
The kids are making great growth both academically and physically and taking off in so many areas. Now is also the time to really focus your attention on any issues they still may be having in reading or math. Be sure to still be checking homework and signing off on it each night to be sure they are successful at their lessons from class each day. These next few months will bring new challenges that will stretch what they already know and push them to new ideas. It is a joy to watch the faces as they learn new fun things!
I am wrapping up conferences and will be touching base soon with a few more of you. Please let me know days and times that work best and I will try my hardest to make the conference convenient for you.
Your children are so excited about checking out library books to read along with their own baggy books. Please be sure that these books are getting read at least 2 times each night so that they are prepared for their AR comprehension tests in the morning. For every 5 points they earn while keeping their comprehension rate above 80%, they get to go down to the media center and get a prize. This is a nice incentive for many of them. If they require help please feel free to read their library books with them for now. Remember that if the nights get busy I would like to see the baggy books be the priority when it comes to reading. Be sure to send them back daily. Thank you so much for helping your child to be responsible and bring their books and homework to school each day.
EXTRA- Our 2nd Field Trip forms will be coming home soon!!! If you are interested in volunteering you MUST turn in a completed volunteer application and clear copy of your drivers license for approval. If you have already done so then it is on file and you do not need to do another one. Remember, you must do a new one each school year.
Please contact me if you have any needs or questions!!!!
