Happy Spring! March has made way for some warmer weather, spring break and lots of fun and learning in April!!! I am so excited to get to spend some time off relaxing and re-charging my batteries with my family and friends. I hope you all have a great vacation this month! It is a good time to play and get ready for the very busy end of 1st grade.
The kids are working very hard and making such amazing growth in reading and writing. They just amaze me every day as I sit and listen to them read and sound out words quickly and still remember to add some voice in there too. Keep reading each night with you child. Remember that it is very important for them to read the more difficult books a couple times before taking an AR test. It helps with their comprehension and ensures they score well and get to enjoy the rewards of the prizes as they reach the next point club. We have several students that have already made it to the 100 point club! Many more are super close and they are trying hard to get there before the end of the year. Keep encouraging them to read at home but remember to foster the love of reading first.
As we begin the march into the final months of the school year be sure to be checking your PI time often so that it does not sneak up on you. There are many campus wide events still taking place that can use your help so be sure to check the calendars and make those calls to join in. I do have things from time to tie that need cutting or organizing so if you feel like that is a better option for you please contact me by phone or email and I can try to help out there too.
I will be setting up conferences soon and would like to try and meet as late as possible so that I can have as much data as I can to share. your children will be taking their final DEA test after the break in late April and I would like to be able to share those scores too. More information will come home on that test soon.
I look forward to spending the next month with your children and look forward to the many exciting things we will be doing and learning! Happy April!
