Happy Spook-Tober! The smell of Fall is in the air! I am so excited about all the fun activities and events that take place this month. So many great ways to incorporate some learning while having fun. We are beginning to talk about Book-O-Ween, which is a day when the kids get to celebrate by dressing up as a character from their favorite book. More information will be coming home soon. We will also celebrate the season with a fun Pumpkin Day Celebration in the room. I will be looking for some parent volunteers to help out on this day. I will be sending home a letter about it soon.
I will be starting parent conferences soon so look for information to come home with dates and times. I look forward to spending time with each of you and sharing how your child's year has started off!
Your children are so excited about checking out library books to read along with their own baggy books. Please be sure that these books are getting read at least 2 times each night so that they are prepared for their AR comprehension tests in the morning. For every 5 points they earn while keeping their comprehension rate above 80%, they get to go down to the media center and get a prize. This is a nice incentive for many of them. If they require help please feel free to read their library books with them for now. Remember that if the nights get busy I would like to see the baggy books be the priority when it comes to reading. Be sure to send them back daily. Thank you so much for helping your child to be responsible and bring their books and homework to school each day.
