We are off to a wonderful start this school year. I am so excited to see all of the goals they will reach and surpass this year!

 Helpful Hints:

Our lunch is every day from 12:00-12:25pm in Cafeteria 1.

Please initial all of your child’s homework in the upper right hand corner of their paper after you have reviewed each assignment for completeness, accuracy and neatness. Agenda planners/behavior charts need to be initialed on a daily basis after all homework assignments have been completed and checked. 

PI Opportunities: If anyone is interested in PI opportunities, please send me an email or give me a call! Thank you for all of your help and support. I have PI projects that can be done in school or at home!

Essential Question: How do people from different cultures contribute to a community?

Comprehension Strategy: Ask and Answer Questions

Readers can ask questions before they read to help them understand what the text will be about. As you read, you can ask and answer questions to help them check their comprehension and stay on track.

Comprehension Skill: Sequence

Sequence is the order in which a story’s events happen. The sequence tells what happens at the beginning, middle and end of a story

 

Genre: Biography

-the story of a real person’s life written by another person

-are often about a person who has made a difference or has a unique story to tell

-may include details to add interest

Grammar: Subjects

The subject tells what or whom the sentence is about

 Spelling:

Date, late, skate, plane, grade, fine, life, rice, wise, smile, rose, globe, smoke, come, used, sneeze, crime, whale, envelope, shapes

Vocabulary:

Admires: when someone admires something you have done, he or she likes it

Classmate: someone who is in your class or school

Community: a place where people live, work and play together

Contribute: when you give money or help with something

Practicing: when you do something again and again

Pronounce: when you say the sounds of a word correctly

Tumbled: to fall
