We are off to a wonderful start this school year. I am so excited to see all of the goals they will reach and surpass this year!

 Helpful Hints:

Our lunch is every day from 12:00-12:25pm in Cafeteria 1.

Please initial all of your child’s homework in the upper right hand corner of their paper after you have reviewed each assignment for completeness, accuracy and neatness. Agenda planners/behavior charts need to be initialed on a daily basis after all homework assignments have been completed and checked. 

PI Opportunities: If anyone is interested in PI opportunities, please send me an email or give me a call! Thank you for all of your help and support. I have PI projects that can be done in school or at home!

English Language Arts Week of 08/18-08/22

 

Essential Question: What can traditions teach you about culture?

Comprehension Strategy: Visualize

Good readers use vivid or colorful words in the text to imagine what is going on in the story.

Comprehension Skill: Sequence

Sequence is the order in which a story’s events happen. The sequence tells what happens at the beginning, middle, and end of a story.

Genre: Realistic Fiction

-has believable characters

-includes a setting and events that could exist in real life

-accurately reflects life as it could be lived today

 Grammar: Commands and Exclamations

A command is a sentence that gives an order. An exclamation shows excitement or strong feeling

 

Spelling:

Step, mess, head, crops, stop, rock, clock, sock, pond, jumps, shut, luck, slump, bugs, mug, ready, funnel, trust, bathtub, gush

Vocabulary:

Courage: bravery in a difficult situation

Disappointment: When something is a disappointment, a person is sad because something is not as good as expected

Precious: something is precious if it is very valuable to you

Pride: a feeling of satisfaction in something you have done

Remind: when you make a person remember something

Symbols: you use symbols to represent ideas or objects

Traditions: things that have been done for a long time
