Dear Kindergarten Families,
Woohoo! Way to go my friends, we made it through the first month of school! We will be every busy the month of September, please look for the newest newsletter under the documents below.
SMILE!!! Individual and Class pictures are taking place on Thursday, September 4th.Uniforms are required. Picture information was sent home in the take home folder. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Accelerated Reader: We are beginning to check out books from the Media Center. When your child brings home a book, please read the book at least 3 times. Ask your child questions about what you read together. If you feel as though your child is ready to take an AR quiz on the book, please write a note in your child's agenda planner with the complete title and author or the quiz number. We will give your child the test in school and let you know how your student scored. Remember, Kindergarten's goal is 15 points and 80% comprehension. If you'd like to find out if books you have at home have a quiz for them, please log onto arbookfind.com and look the book up. You can test on those books, too! We will also be testing on books read in class. :) :) Happy Reading!
This week we're working on identifying uppercase and lowercase letters A-Z and we're reviewing the sight words I and can. In math we will continue to compare numbers 0-5 in Chapter 2, Test next Thursday. FAIR Testing is beginning soon, no need to prep, just a good night sleep will do!
Homework will be coming home Tuesday. Please complete it daily and return it on Friday.
GREAT READING! Visit http://www.wegivebooks.org/books and read some fantastic books that are also used in the classroom. You and your child can access many books virtually to continue building their reading and listening skills!
