We are going to have a GREAT year!! What a wonderful September we have had so far!

St. Augustine letters with permission slips have gone out! Please look for these in your child's binder. We will be going on Wednesday, December 2nd at 5:45 am here at the 4/5 center. We will be coming back around 6:30 pm. If you would like to be a chaperone, please make sure you have completed and turned in a 2015-2016 Volunteer Application Form, along with a COPY of your Driver's License in order to be in the drawing. The chaperone slips are due Tuesday, September 15th. I will then notify you if you have been chosen or not. The deposit for the trip, $40, is due on Friday, October 2nd and the balance will be due on Friday, October 23rd. Please make sure, if you are chosen for chaperone, that all payments are turned in for chaperoning as well by the dates listed above. NO LATE PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. I have attached a copy of the parent letter on my website, as well, so you can refer back to it as you need. Permission slips, NOTARIZED, are due with the deposit. We are going to have a great trip!


Puzzle Piece Project has been assigned! This fun, entertaining project will be due on Friday, October 30. Please make sure book selection is submitted for approval by Friday, October 2nd and the full sheet filled out by October 23. In celebration of Book-o-Ween, your child will dress up as one of their favorite characters from the book and presenting their project in front of the class. Come ready to share! I can't wait to see your creativeness shine! (No late projects will be accepted.)


Our class is collecting box tops and soup can labels.  Please send any you may have in with your child anytime.

To start our year off with English Language Arts, we are going to use the curriculum McGraw-Hill to reinforce our skills and strategies each week. The website is and your child will now has a user name and password to access this site. We will start with the comprehension strategy main idea and details along with the vocabulary strategy context clues.  We will also discuss theme. Our comprehension skill is reread. Our weekly Anthology story is called, "The Buffalo are Back," which is narrative nonfiction. Our phonics skill (spelling words) focuses on three letter blends, such as splashing and screech. Our Language Arts and spelling tests are on Fridays, unless otherwise noted in the agenda and website. In writing we are continuing with what is a main idea and supporting detail? We will use various published articles, such as Highlights for Children and National Geographic, to show how authors organize their writing with strong main ideas that can be proved with details that support the main idea. Look for these writings outside our classroom wall in the hallway! 

In Math we are continuing to learn all about multiplication. We will now be multiplying two-digit by two-digit numbers. We will also delve into drawing models to portray equations to solve. Our Chapter 4 Math Test will be in October. The website for math is and your child will also receive a user name and password shortly for this site, too.

In Science we are going start learning all about animals. We will touch upon life cycles, food webs, and food chains. Our Unit 10 Assessment will be in October.

In Social Studies we will learn all about Florida's early history. Our first unit assessment will Friday, October 2. We will also use for social studies.
