Our school year is continuing to move right along! Students have brought home an information sheet and permission slip for our field trip. The permission slip does NOT need to be notarized, as Gainesville is not over 100 miles away. The cost of this field trip is $15.00. I will draw chaperones on February 8th - we are only in need of 2 chaperones for this trip.
Academics this week:
English Language Arts: Our focus skill of the week is problem and solution. We will study this text structure using fictional texts.
Our writing focus is on fine tuning our writing skills. Students have made a lot of progress this year with their writing abilities - I continue to challenge and encourage them to take their writing farther and farther.
Math: We will assess Ch. 10 on Wednesday. Please review the Math Notebook with your child. They have learned many terms for this chapter and it is imperative to know what each term means, not just what it looks like.
Science: We have jumped back into Science. Our focus of study is on Earth's place in our Solar System.
We are always in need of class snacks. Healthy snacks are perfect (ex. Goldfish, pretzels, crackers, granola bars, etc.-no chocolate please). If you are interested in donating please send them along with receipts for PI. Thank you in advance.
Please keep sending in Box Tops!
Parents, please make sure that your child is taking advantage of the ThinkCentral website. This is a valuable tool to use for practice in both reading, math, and science. Your child will be given a username and password for this website. The information will be located in their binders. www.thinkcentral.com. Also, the McGraw-Hill website for Social Studies and Reading. www.connected.mcgraw-hill.com
Please make sure to check binders nightly for important information, weekly assignments, and tests. Please make sure that your child is reading every night. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me, jot a note in the planner, or email me at anytime.
