We had a great time touring St. Augustine! Students were able to see the Castillo de San Marcos, drink the water from the Fountain of Youth, and experience daily living in early Florida when we visited The Old Florida Museum. I hope your child shared all of their memories with you!
Our Weekly Learning Focus:
Language Arts: This week we will continue Point of View. Students will use a fantasy story this week to further aid in their learning of this skill. Not only will we review 1st and 3rd person point of view, but we will also review how the author/narrator feels about their topic.
Reading as a Writer: We will continue our focus on finding the main idea of a passage by first deciding what the key details our leading us to while we read a passage. **This is why sometimes students will bring home a reading passage only to mark the text. They will not always have questions to answer.
Math: Students will continue Chapter 6 - Fractions. This Friday we will assess this chapter. We take notes in our Math Notebooks almost daily. Students are encouraged to bring them home to aid with homework!
Social Studies: After touring St. Augustine, students will spend this week creating a St. Augustine brochure. They will use their experience from the field trip and textbooks to assist them.
