Alas, the Florida Standards Assessment has become a thing of the past! However, that doesn't mean we are free and clear just yet! Once we return from Spring Break we will have about 7 weeks jammed-packed of learning and preparing for fourth grade. The students have worked tremendously hard this year, and they definitely deserve a week of fun, sun, and relaxation! With that, I will save updates on classroom happenings and curriculum for when we return!
I hope you have all a fantastic Spring Break!

HELPFUL TIPS FOR AR SUCCESS
1. Make sure your child is choosing books within his/her AR reading level. Books should be chosen closer to the high end of his/her ZPD range.
2. Please allow a quiet place for your child to read for 20 minutes uninterrupted each night. This is his/her assigned homework.
3. Nonfiction books should be read weekly and tested on by Friday. Students have multiple sources to pull from in our classroom, and can always check one out from the school media center. This is important because it helps build your child's content knowledge, gives him/her familiarity with different kinds of reading materials, and expands vocabularies too. Thank you for helping reinforce this at home.
As always this is just a reminder: Please make sure you are checking your child's BEACH Binder every night. Take the papers in the KEEP AT HOME section out so that I can continue to send home their weekly papers. Also, please sign your child's agenda every night. This helps me make quick observations that you are monitoring your child's daily homework and behavior.
Connect ED: Please use the ConnectED website to help your child with their reading and social studies skills. This site has the student book available, as well as videos and interactive games to help your child. Use your child's user name and password that was typed on a label and placed in their agenda planner. The website to log on to is: http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/connected/login.do
Think Central: Please use the Think Central website to help your child with their math and science skills. This site has the student book available to view, as well as destination math and mega math. These programs review the skills taught in class. Use your child's user name and password that was typed on a label and placed in their agenda planner. The website to log on to is: www.thinkcentral.com Make sure that for District you choose "The Villages Charter District" in the drop down menu and for School you choose "Villages Charter Intermediate Center"
Box Tops for Education: Our class is collecting Box Tops for Education and could really use your support. Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of grocery and household product, clip the label, and send them in to our classroom. We are trying to earn "free" money for our school (each label is worth 10 cents). So before you throw away any of your used items, please check to see if there is a box top label you can clip for our class. Thank you in advance for your support!
