It is hard to believe that the first quarter of school is over! It has been a great first nine weeks of school, and I am optimistic that it will continue on for the rest of the school year.
Conferences are officially completed! It was so great to meet with each one of you, and learn more about your child. I truly appreciate you taking the time to meet with me and learn more about what third grade is all about. I know it has been a crazy, and somewhat scary first couple of weeks, but I hope you all feel comfortable and confident to continue in assisting your child in their successful for the rest of the year.
BUFFALO BASKET AUCTION- I sent an email regarding our Buffalo Basket, which is a great fund raising event and opportunity to earn PI. Our basket for this year is Gift Card Galore. We are in need of gift cards from various restaurants, or places of enjoyment to help make our basket complete. Gift cards of all denominations are welcome!
SEA WORLD FIELD TRIP- Our field trip to Sea World will be here before you know it! I know the kids are very excited, and I cannot wait either. I wanted to share a little information on why we choose to go to Sea World (besides is being such an awesome and interesting place). In our Science curriculum, students in third grade dive into the classification of our world's living things. They will learn to classify vertebrates and invertebrates by distinguishing between their characteristics and adaptations. This is such an interesting unit that we will be working on from now until our field trip. The students will better understand the habitats and lifestyle of the animals they see at Sea World, and will also be able to classify each one of them by using the classification process that real scientist use. This is going to be such a great experience for them!
As always this is just a reminder: Please make sure you are checking your child's BEACH Binder every night. Take the papers in the KEEP AT HOME section out so that I can continue to send home their weekly papers. Also, please sign your child's agenda every night. This helps me make quick observations that you are monitoring your child's daily homework and behavior.
Please continue to check my teacher website weekly. Here you will get updates on classroom activities, important information, and documents that are updated and attached at the bottom of my page. Again, if you have any questions you would like to ask before the first day of school please email me at Samantha.Sheffield@tvcs.org
