How time is flying! We reached the quarter mid-point on September 6 and we're plowing ahead. Before you know it, Founder's Day will be here. That is on September 30. Looking forward to that and would love your help to setup, work in the booth, or take down. This will be added to your PI time. Please let me know if you are willing to help.
This week in September we are having a Unit Test in Reading. We assess all the skills taught so far this year. The students will test daily with a Cold Read . There are no Spelling or Vocabulary words this week.
Currently in Math, we are reviewing subtraction facts that they mastered in second grade. It is always a timed facts drill. On Fridays we test those facts also. Soon we will be practicing multiplication and they will be timed for one and one half minutes the first week and the second week on the same facts, they will be timed for one minute.. This skill is expected to be achieved by the time the students are in fourth grade and we have expectations of all third graders reaching this goal.
Parents, please sign their agendas nightly. This indicates that you have reviewed their homework, knew they read for AR at least fifteen minutes, and are working on their Friday to Friday Cold Read homework. Thank you so much for signing promptly the papers that are stamped "Sign and Return". These are placed in their portfolio.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write a note in their agenda and I will get back to you quickly.
Classroom Wishlist: Ziploc bags of assorted sizes and Treasure Box items (include a receipt for those items to use towards PI time)
