It's hard to believe that we are already flying into the month of September! We are continuing to work hard on establishing routines and procedures in our class. Please continue to emphasize the importance of listening and following directions to your child. They are so bright and can achieve so much when they are giving their best!
September will be a busy month for us. We are really delving deep into reading and I'm already seeing great growth from them in their Reading Groups. Please continue to remember to sign your child's reading log each night after they read. In Writing, we will continue to work together to write essays about the things we are learning in Science and Social Studies, as well as writing and responding to texts that we read. In Math, we will be exploring Subtraction in Chapter 2 and then we will move back into more in depth Addition Concepts in Chapter 3. Please continue to check homework nightly and re-emphasize the skills we've learned in class each day. In Social Studies, we will be learning about American Symbols and the Constitution. In Science, we are learning about How Scientists Work. We'll also learn about Johnny Appleseed as we celebrate his birthday on September 26.
There are many exciting events in September as well, including the Reading Celebration and the Founders Day Festival. Be sure to check the calendar for important dates.
