Thank you for joining us for Third Grade parent Night. We hope it was
informative and you left feel knowledgeable about Third Grade expectations and
requirements for progression to Fourth Grade.
Next week is Fall Break. Your students received a “Fall Break Challenge” to
complete if they choose. It consists of reading 20 minutes each week night
(like their normal Reading homework) and writing a short summary about their
reading for the day. There is also a Math Mystery Grid picture to complete. If
students complete this packet over break, they will receive a special reward
when they return to school. Enjoy Thanksgiving and time with family and
When students return on December 1, we will be continuing Unit 3 in Language
Arts. Our skills will be: Main Idea and Details, Summarize, expository
nonfiction, future tense verbs, and prefixes. We are continuing to work on
writing paragraph responses to correspond with our current learning.
We are continuing our unit on Geography and maps. We are currently learning about the Regions of
the United States. Your child is making a flip book for each region. They will
need to identify the 5 regions for a test on Friday, December 5.
In math, we are working on the multiples of 7 (testing 1 minute 30 seconds on
Friday). We are finishing Chapter 7: Division Facts and Strategies. The
next chapter we start is Fractions.
