On our first day back, Winter Break readers will be given an AR test, and congratulations to our entire class for reaching the mid-year AR goal! Bravo readers!!!
EVENTS: The week of January 5-9 has recently been declared by Govenor Scott as Florida First Responder Appreciation Week. Students in our classroom will be discussing and reading about First Responders and how they service our community. January 9th is dress down day for all students who reached the mid-year goal of 7 AR points! Congratulations to everyone in our class for reaching the AR mid-year goal! On January 19th, there is no school for students as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Teachers participate in a professional development day on this day. The 100th Day of School is later that week on January 21st! Students will be counting and celebrating their knowledge of the number 100 on this day! Parent volunteers are welcome!
PI OPPORTUNITIES: Please be sure to attend the Buffalo P.R.I.D.E on Tuesday, January 13th at 6:00 in the VCMS gym to learn about what your child is learning here at VCS, and earn valuable informational PI Time. Volunteers are needed for the 100th Day of School to help with classroom activities. Please let me know if you would like to help!
HOMEWORK: A packet will typically be put in your child's binder for Monday- Thursday homework. Please have your child complete one activity each day. To encourage success in Kindergarten, please help your child memorize the sight words on the 100 Club List. If your child is having difficulty remembering the names of the letters, please use the Upper and lowercase letter recognition PDF practice sheet below for additional support. Oral counting of numbers 0 to 75 will be assessed at the end of the 3rd nine weeks of school. Students who have master counting to 75 may progress until they have mastered counting 0-100! Offer opportunities for your student to count objects at home, and encourage them to use an index finger to touch each object as they count. Baggie books are sent home on Mondays and must be returned each week by Thursday to participate in the this take-home book class program.
HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION: The agenda planner is where you can write me a note about any changes in dismissal, share a
comment, or any question that you may want to ask me. Please make sure to let me know whether your child is going to be at car line or participate in Aftercare each day. If your child is absent, please send in a note explaining the reason for the absence for me to submit to the Main Office. Please remember to arrive to school on time. Your child loves to enter our classroom promptly at 7:35am!
