It's September already! The students have been doing wonderfully, and progressing in their ability to follow procedures and rules consistently.
PI OPPORTUNITIES: Please be sure to attend the Buffalo P.R.I.D.E on Tuesday, September 2nd at the Savanna Center at 6:00pm. If you did not yet sign up to volunteer for the Founder's Day Festival, an event on September 12th, please do so as soon as possible. It is a great time for our school to begin the Fall season with fun and fellowship while earning PI time. If you would like to donate a snack for Zero the Hero day or volunteer to learn how to help with our AR program in our classroom during the morning or late afternoon, please let me know.
PROGRESS REPORTS regarding your child's learning thus far will be sent home on September 15th. Please sign and send back the acknowledgement slip of paper to me as soon as you review the report. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or if you would like to schedule a conference.
HOMEWORK: A packet will be put in your child's binder for Monday- Thursday homework. Please have your child complete one activity each day. To encourage success in Kindergarten, please help your child to know all of the upper and lowercase letter names. (See the Upper and lowercase letter recognition PDF practice sheet below) Oral counting of numbers 0 to 25 will be assessed at the end of the 1st nine weeks of school. Students who have master counting to 25 may progress until they have mastered counting 0-100! This month you will receive a list of sight words that we recommend your child learn this year. Please practice each night a few at a time. A list of words in large font is below for your convenience.
EVENTS: Picture Day, 2 surprise snack days from Zero the Hero, The Founder's Day Festival, Silly Sock Day, our ocean themed Reading Celebration, and a visit from Johnny Appleseed are some of the exciting events this month. Please make sure to attend the Special Areas Parent Night on September 16th at 6:00pm. Stay tuned for information about PARENT NIGHT on OCTOBER 14th from 6:00-7:30 when you will learn more about our NEW Florida Standards based report card and our Accelerated Reader Program while earning well-deserved informational PI time!
HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION: Now that your child has had an opportunity to receive a school agenda planner, we can communicate day to day about
upcoming events, learning activities and your child's behavior each day. The agenda planner is where you can write me a note about any changes in dismissal, share a
comment, or any question that you may want to ask me. Please make sure to let me know whether your child is going to be at car line or participate in Aftercare each day. Please remember to arrive to school on time. Your child enjoys the social time in the Media Center before the first bell, and loves to enter our classroom promptly at 7:35am!
