October is a busy
month! Please read the October Newsletter below and check your child’s agenda
for all of the fun events we have taking place this month.
PI OPPORTUNITIES: Please be sure to attend the Buffalo P.R.I.D.E on Tuesday, October 7th at 6:00 in the VCMS gym AND the Parent Workshop with Dave Benzel. If you would like to donate a snack for Zero the Hero day or our Teddy Bear Tea please contact me. We also need volunteers to help with our AR program in our classroom during the mornings or late afternoons.
HOMEWORK: A packet will be put in your child's binder for Monday- Thursday homework. Please have your child complete one activity each day. To encourage success in Kindergarten, please help your child to know all of the upper and lowercase letter names. (See the Upper and lowercase letter recognition PDF practice sheet below) Oral counting of numbers 0 to 25 will be assessed at the end of the 1st nine weeks of school. Students who have master counting to 25 may progress until they have mastered counting 0-100! Please practice sight words from the 100 Sight Club Word list. When your child is able to read the words in a snap, move on to helping them with the next group of words. I will be assessing them in the classroom periodically.
EVENTS: Students wear blue UNIFORM shirts on Monday, October 5th in observance of our Stomp Out Bullying Program. Picture Day Retakes are October 9th for students who need to have their picture taken. Save the date to attend PARENT NIGHT on October 14th from 6:00-7:30 when you will learn more about our NEW Florida Standards based report card and our Accelerated Reader Program while earning well-deserved informational PI time! Check the Newsletter for a full list of events.
HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION: Now that your child has had an opportunity to receive a school agenda planner, we can communicate day to day about
upcoming events, learning activities and your child's behavior each day. The agenda planner is where you can write me a note about any changes in dismissal, share a
comment, or any question that you may want to ask me. Please make sure to let me know whether your child is going to be at car line or participate in Aftercare each day. Please remember to arrive to school on time. Your child enjoys the social time in the Media Center before the first bell, and loves to enter our classroom promptly at 7:35am!
