Dear Kindergarten Families

TOP OF MONTH NEWS: Please read the April Newsletter in the link below for important information. Congratulations to our class for reaching 15 AR points and 85% comprehension to ALL students in our class! All students will be eligible to attend the Pancake Breakfast! What a wonderful achievement!

Spring Picture Money Due on April 26th OR please return the pictures. Thank you!

SUMMER BIRTHDAYS:  If your child has a summer birthday, your child will have an opportunity to celebrate on a day of your choosing in either April or May. I also have a summer birthday, so I remember how it felt when students celebrated during the school year in Kindergarten. Parents may send me an email about a desired date.

FIELD TRIP: Our second field trip will be to the Orlando Repertory Theater was a wonderful success, and the students were able to meet one of the actors in the performance as well! Thank you to the parents as well for a great job helping the students throughout the day.

HOMEWORK:  A packet will typically be put in your child's binder for Monday- Thursday homework. Please have your child complete one activity each day.

To encourage success in Kindergarten, please help your child memorize the sight words on the 100 Club List. Baggie books are sent home on Mondays and must be returned each week by Thursday to participate in this take-home book class program.

Oral counting of numbers 0 to 100 will be assessed at the end of the 4th  nine weeks of school.  Practice counting by tens and fives, along with adding and subtracting  to develop number sense. Offer opportunities for your student to count objects at home, and encourage them to use an index finger to touch each object as they count.

HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION:

ATTENDANCE: Please remember to arrive on time, well rested and prepared for school each day. Your child loves to enter our classroom promptly at 7:35 am with all their other classmates!

SHOE TYING: Kindergarten students are expected to be able to tie their own shoes by this point in the school year.  If your child requires more time and opportunity to master this skill, please practice nightly to prepare for First Grade.
