December will be a busy month in our classroom! Please read the December Newsletter below to see an overview of the learning, events and PI opportunities available!
EVENTS: All family members are invited to attend our Holiday Sing-a-long on Friday, December 19th at 1:00pm. We will sing holiday songs, and then we will enjoy refreshments and fellowship before saying goodbye for Winter Break.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: All families were send a notice regarding scheduling a conference. If you have not yet responded, or need more flexible scheduling, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
PI OPPORTUNITIES: Please be sure to attend the Buffalo P.R.I.D.E on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 6:00 in the VCMS gym to learn about what your child is learning here at VCS, and earn valuable informational PI Time. Parents can also donate mini M&Ms, green icing, sugar cones or holiday cookies for our classroom holiday activities.
HOMEWORK: This month your child will be bringing a holiday celebration project on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd to complete at home by Dec. 8th. We will be learning about how families celebrate in similar and different ways, and the students will be sharing traditions that are celebrated in your family. A packet will typically be put in your child's binder for Monday- Thursday homework. Please have your child complete one activity each day. To encourage success in Kindergarten, please help your child memorize the sight words on the 100 Club List. If your child is having difficulty remembering the names of the letters, please use the Upper and lowercase letter recognition PDF practice sheet below for additional support. Oral counting of numbers 0 to 50 will be assessed at the end of the 2nd nine weeks of school. Students who have master counting to 50 may progress until they have mastered counting 0-100! Offer opportunities for your student to count objects at home, and encourage them to use an index finger to touch each object as they count. Baggie books are sent home on Mondays and must be returned each week by Thursday to participate in the this take-home book class program.
HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION: The agenda planner is where you can write me a note about any changes in dismissal, share a
comment, or any question that you may want to ask me. Please make sure to let me know whether your child is going to be at car line or participate in Aftercare each day. If your child is absent, please send in a note explaining the reason for the absence for me to submit to the Main Office. Please remember to arrive to school on time. Your child loves to enter our classroom promptly at 7:35am!
Mrs. Xavier's students are doing fantastic following the rules and procedures that help maximize learning within our classroom!
