Dear Parents, families, and students,
What a busy week we have had in our classroom! The kids have been learning so much and working so hard, I am so proud of them. We are going to have a great week!
Homework: Homework will continue the same as last week. Homework will be given Monday through Thursday, and will consist of a reading sheet and a daily math homework page. Thursday night students will have to write their spelling words three times each in order to prepare for the spelling test on Friday. I ask that you look over you child's homework and initial each piece. Please remember that homework is due the next day unless I specify differently. Homework turned in a day late will automatically receive a 60% (unless the child has been absent).
Field Trip: Letters went home about our field trip to Medieval Times in Kissimmee. This is such a fun field trip for students! Our class will be going on Friday, November 13th. We will be leaving for the field trip at 8:30 and returning at 3:30. The cost of the field trip is $45, both payment and consent form are due on Friday, October 23rd. Please do not send in additional money for the field trip as students will not be allowed to purchase souvenirs. Lunch will be provided in the cost of the trip, which includes: roasted chicken, garlic bread, corn, potato, chocolate chip cookie, and water or pepsi. Lunch can be purchased from our cafeteria, however Medieval times will not discount the price of the ticket due to the elimination of the meal. If you would like to chaperone the field trip, a drawing will be help on Thursday, October 15th. Three chaperones will be choosen. To be eligible for the drawing please have a completed volunteer application turned in with a copy of your driver's license, see files below.
Accelerated Reading: Just a reminder that students should be testing on AT LEAST two books a week. If you feel your child is ready to take an AR test, please write the complete book title and AR quiz number in your child's reading log, inside the agenda. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Please remember, your child's AR goal for this year is located inside their agenda and 80% comprehension. The last day to test for the second nine weeks is on December 18th. Please make sure your child has reached their AR goal by logging onto their AR connect to see their progress so far this nine weeks.
Boxtops for Education: Our class is collecting Box Tops for education! Did you know that for every Box Top you send in our school earns 10¢? It's as simple as clipping Box Tops and sending them to school in your child's folder in a sealed baggy. We'll take care of the rest! Thanks for all you do!
I really appreciate all you will do to help make this year amazing! If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
