Dear Parents, families, and students,

Homework:  Homework will consist of a nightly reading comprehension and math worksheet this week.  Reading homework will focus on the skill of reading comprehension.  I ask that you check your child's reading passage homework to make sure they are underlining and numbering their text evidence to prove their answer.  Math homework will foucs on the skill they learned about that day in class.  I ask that you ALWAYS initial your child's homeowrk.  Spelling homework is on Thursday to help them with their spelling test on Friday.  Attached below is the spelling list for Unit 5.  Your child will know which list they are on after they take the pre-spelling test on Monday.  Homework is due the next day, unless I specify otherwise.  Any homework turned in a day late will automatically receive a 60% (unless the child has been absent).

Field Trip:  We are so excited to be going on our next field trip to the Crayola Experience in Orlando.  Our class will be going on Tuesday, April 25th.  Here are some important dates for you to remember:

  • 3/8/17 Volunteer application due if you would like to chaperone
  • 3/8/17 Chaperone interest form due
  • 3/9/17 Chaperone drawing
  • 3/24/17 All payment and forms DUE

Some friendly reminders about the field trip.  All students will need to pick between a hot dog or pizza lunch.  Chaperone lunch choice is a pizza.  Please make lunch choice at the bottom of the field trip letter.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me.

Accelerated Reading:  Just a reminder that students should be testing on AT LEAST two books a week.  If you feel your child is ready to take an AR test, please write the complete book title and AR quiz number in your child's reading log, inside the agenda.  We are fresh into the start of another nine weeks, so students received their new AR goals, which are placed inside their binders.  Please remember to check their progress for the 3rd nine weeks inside their binder or on the AR connect page link which can be found on the media center page.  Students will need to maintain an 80% comprehension on their AR tests for recognition of completion of goal.  If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Boxtops for Education:  Our class is collecting Box Tops for education!  Did you know that for every Box Top you send in our school earns 10¢?  It's as simple as clipping Box Tops and sending them to school in your child's folder in a sealed baggy.  We'll take care of the rest!  Thanks for all you do!

I really appreciate all you will do to help make this year amazing!  If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

Love,

Ms. Dixon
