Reminder: Heritage Doll projects are due this Tuesday, November 18th. NO late work will be accepted. Students will be graded on their ability to present their dolls and answer questions from classmates.
Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to chaperone our field trip last week! The students had a great time and learned a lot about life long ago.
This week in class, our language arts phonics focus will be reading and writing words with soft C & soft G, like in cent & giant. We will also review inflectional endings -ed & -ing. Our literature for the week will include both informational and fictional texts about the history of Thanksgiving and modern Thanksgiving traditions.
In math we will take the chapter 5 test on Monday, and begin chapter 6 on Wednesday. We will be learning all about numbers to 120, including skip counting and representing numbers at tens and ones. Please continue to check your
child’s math homework every evening and make sure it is placed back in the
front of his or her binder.
The students are making great progress and it has been my pleasure to meet with you during parent conferences. Please feel free to contact me any time that you have additional questions, concerns, or ideas for helping your child succeed in first grade.
Have a wonderful week and a very happy Thanksgiving!!
