Basket Benefit donations are due this Thursday, October 23rd. Our class is collecting fall-themed housewares and non-perishable food items that may be used to bless a family in need. All items and money donated will count for P.I. time as well!!!
This week in class, our language arts phonics focus will be reading and writing words with consonant digraphs sh, th, and ng. We will also learn about closed syllables and review proper nouns. Our literature focus will be stories, both fiction and non-fiction, about people who help their communities.
In math we will continue learning and applying a variety of subtraction strategies, and will take our chapter test on Thursday. We are also working in math centers to build fluency with math facts. Please continue to check your
child’s math homework every evening and make sure it is placed back in the
front of his or her binder.
In social studies we will continue our unit of study on maps and globes, and students will apply what they've learned by creating their own "Me on the Map" books.
We are off to a wonderful start to our school year,
and it has been a pleasure getting to know your families better. Please remember to return your conference scheduling forms so that I can begin meeting with you soon to discuss your child's progress and individual goals for the future.
Have a great week!
