This week in language arts we will introduce the oi & oy sound-spelling patterns. We will also learn about words with consonant -le syllables, like the word apple. Our literature focus will be nonfiction texts about how things are built, including ships and bridges. Please continue to read baggie books together with your child every night. Discussing books and talking about new vocabulary words is a great way to build your child's reading comprehension skills!
In math, we will review three-dimensional shapes and take the chapter 11 test. To connect with our weekly literature focus, we will also use 3D shapes to build structures of our own!
This week in science we will learn about the helpful and harmful properties of the sun and also do a fun gravity investigation and writing activity.
Thank you for your continued support at home. It makes all the difference when students arrive at school happy and ready to learn! As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to help out in the classroom, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Have a great week!
