This week in language arts we will learn about long O spelling patterns oa & ow. We will also continue practicing dictionary skills, and will introduce open syllables like be in because. Our literature focus will be nonfiction texts about how animals survive in nature. Students are also excited about reaching either the 50 or 100 point AR goals by the end of the year, so please keep up the nightly reading at home!
In math, we will continue chapter 8, learning how to add and subtract two-digit numbers. This is also a great time to practice and build fluency with basic addition and subtraction facts!
We will also begin our science unit on animals this week, and will learn how animals are classified into groups by distinguishing features.
Thank you for your continued support at home. It makes all the difference when students arrive at school happy and ready to learn! As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to help out in the classroom, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Have a great week!
