Mr. Paul Turner « Teacher Connection / Documents / Calendar

Greetings Physics/Physical Science Parents and Students,

I appreciate the opportunity to become a member of the staff at VHS. An important skill-set I will bring to the VHS students is the combination of both academic and professional knowledge and experience. My background includes significant academic research in Physics, which is combined with the applied experiences I have had the opportunity to utilize during my tenure at Lockheed Martin, Thales, and my own international software company. I will have the opportunity to share not only my knowledge of the Study of Matter and Energy, but also my combined knowledge of multiple science and engineering disciplines, and business operations, with the students.  My teaching methodology is student-centered, and involves considerable interaction with the students to guide them to solutions.  This method will not only increase student engagement in the study of Physics, it will focus upon improving their critical thinking and cognitive abilities.  I am very excited to be a member of the VHS team and look forward to partnering with you to provide important skill-sets for each student's future.
Thank You,
Paul Turner

Game-Plan:
I have coordinated closely with the administration, other science teachers, and the students to determine exactly where each class (i.e., AP Physics, Physics I, Physical Science Honors and Physical Science) is within the curriculum to-date.  The information below will be updated as necessary to reflect the path for the remainder of the year.  The focus is to provide the information and environment to the students that will enable them to be successful in their study of Physics and lay the foundation for each student's academic and career goals.

Mr. Turner

Science Fair/Research Project: Each student at TVHS is required to participate in an independent scientific investigation. Students will have the option to submit their project electronically or through a traditional science fair project. Students who participate in the science fair will receive an extra assignment grade for the quarter. Please refer to the PDF documents section located on this page. Thank you.
