Ms. Julie Shepherd « Teacher Connection / Documents / Calendar

Greetings!

Your homework is to view the video lecture and fill in the accompanying study guide on algebranation.com. The formula for your username and password are in a PDF file on my Teacher Connection page.  If you cannot enter the site, please try again and type slowly. If that doesn't work, check to be sure you have followed the correct format for your birth date.  MM-DD-YYYY

This site was specifically designed by the State of Florida to help students learn the new course content of Algebra 1. By viewing the lecture online, more class time will be available for answering questions about the material covered in the video and additional practice. I feel this should greatly benefit my students because:

•             they will be able to stop, pause, rewind, to watch the lecture or parts of the lecture as much as needed for understanding.

•             lessons will always be available for students who have been absent, need  remediation, or for additional study before an exam.

•             this method of learning will eliminate the tears and frustration we sometimes have when a homework assignment is attempted before mastery of the material.

As you can imagine, it is vitally important that the videos are watched each evening and the accompanying study guide is completed. Please make sure that you take the time to complete your assignment each day.  If you don’t understand, stop the video, rewind, and watch that section again. Be sure to write down your questions and bring them to class the next day. The videos will vary in length, but the average is about 20 minutes.

If you need more help, please remember there is tutoring Monday through Thursday after school from 2:40 to 3:10 in my room, or there is free tutoring from the National Honor Society. Please let me know if you are interested in attending either of these tutoring opportunities.

PARENTS: Please remember to check the Skyward Web Gradebook often for an update on your student's algebra grade. Also, please make a monthly check of their supplies so they will have all the tools to be successful in algebra.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.    If you prefer email, please send a quick message, so I can add you to my contact list.  You can also reach me at (352) 259-3777 ext 2180.
