Talk about everything! Talk about what you are doing. Talk about what you see. Talk about how you worked through a problem. Research shows that talking aloud what you are thinking in your head can help you your child's language and vocabulary.
Also, talk about everyday things you see. In the grocery store, talk about what you would see in each aisle. This helps with categories. You can also explain what you would not see in that aisle.
Read every day to your child. Reading increases language and vocabulary as well.
I'm housed at the Middle School, but I also float around campus serving Kindergarten & Middle School students. If you are at the Middle School, speech therapy will be Wednesdays and Fridays. If you are a kindergarten student at the Primary Center, your therapy will be on Mondays and Thursdays. Please feel free to contact me either by phone or by e-mail with any questions or concerns regarding your child's speech and/or language program.
Looking to get some PI time? I am in need of a few supplies.
If you can fulfill any of these needs, I would be so appreciative. Just send the item into school with your child with a note stating the dollar amount and my name or Speech. Their classroom teacher will pass it along to me.
