Welcome to 7th Grade Civics and Economics! Brace yourself for a
challenging final quarter of what I hope will contain many positive educational
experiences for you. By the end of this school year, you will have gained
considerable knowledge and will be able to see the world more clearly so that
the impact you will make upon it will have greater significance. I am looking
forward to sharing the rest of this year with you and helping you succeed not only in this
course, but in life as well - as you apply what you will learn to many of
life's situations and better yourself as well as society.
During the month of April, we will be spending some time each class period reviewing Civics for the state exam next month. Students will also be engaged in a two day presentation from a local bank on use of money and how a bank operates. By the end of the month, there will be an opportunity for students to participate in a mock civil trial to get them familiar with courtroom procedures and the duties of a jury.
We are back on the bi-weekly homework schedule, and students will now have three options: 1) Complete a current event and political cartoon analysis, 2) Do one hour of community service and complete a reflection log of that service, or 3) Monitor five selected stocks and calculate profits or losses within the time period given. The rubrics for each are found below as pdf files. The next homework due date is Friday, 4/17.
Lesson Topics and Assignments will be posted
weekly on the calendar. I will also post pdf files of various items for
students (study guides, homework and project rubrics) made available
