I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade math students again this year. It will be an amazing year of discovery, growth, skill acquisition, and maturity. 6th grade is a time when students are changing daily, and friends and friendships become so very important. There will be homework assigned nightly to reinforce what has been taught in class, and this means on Friday nights as well. The students who complete their homework to the best of their ability every night are those who are the most successful. We build on previous skills every day so it is very important that the students are keeping up with their daily assignments. Grades will be recorded for homework practice, Mid-Chapter Quizzes, and Chapter Tests.
Please be sure to check my website frequently as I post all class assignments and homework on the website. You will find all assignments for the entire week posted on the calendar on Mondays.
Tutoring will begin Wednesday, August 27th from 3:00-3:45 in my classroom. It is on a come as needed basis as long as the numbers do not get too large. A students can attend every week or only as they come across material that seems more challenging. At 3:45 they will return to aftercare or will be ready for pick up in the front of the school in the 7-8 car line. If numbers require I will add an additional day of tutoring. Remember all students have an ALEKS account and this too can be used to review and build 6th grade skills. ALEKS suggests 90 minutes a week on the program for maximum success, ( www.ALEKS.com ) their password is taped in their agenda.
