"Music has always fascinated us with its ability to communicate. Without words. Without pictures." ~ from the movie, August Rush

Parents and students,

Several students are coming to class unprepared with the proper materials and are trying to do their assignments in gel pens and markers. The only acceptable writing utensil for marking in music and/or scripts is an erasable pencil. Please make sure to keep backpacks stocked with a fresh supply when the old supply runs out. Thank you :)

Info for the Spring Concert "Brighten Your Soul With Music"

Chorus students will rehearse after-school from 3:00 4:30 in the VCMS Chorus Room on Wednesday, May 6th. Please arrange to pick your student up in the 6th grade car-line behind the Performing Arts wing. Students should bring a "Silent Activity" with them. This includes homework, an AR book, notebook and paper to write notes or draw, headphones, etc... as long as all sound is turned off and the student is occupied.

The concert on will be on Thursday, May 7th  at 7:00 PM in the brand new Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, located in Spanish Springs Town Square (the old Church at the Springs.) The middle school choirs will combine with the high school choir for this concert to share our talents with you, the families, and also with the Villages residents who love to support arts in our schools. Student call-time for the evening of the concert is 5:00 PM so that students can be familiarized to The Sharon and do a walk-through of their concert at the facility before the concert begins.

Tickets for the event are $10 and are available through this website: www.thesharon.com. Proceeds go towards usage of the facility and also help fund the chorus program so that we can buy music, folders, music software and materials for class. If you would like to avoid the $3.00 per ticket online processing fee, you can purchase tickets directly at one of The Villages box offices located throughout The Villages.

For concert attire:

* 6th Grade wear their blue VCMS polo

* Chorus 1 (6th Period) wears their green VCMS polo

* Chorus 2 students voted to have a more professional concert attire to show off in, and are now required to a uniform of solid black. Gentlemen should wear pants, ladies should wear pants or dresses/skirts of knee-length or longer. Tops should be business casual or nicer, no T-shirts are acceptable. Shoes may be open-toed, however, they need to match the professional atmosphere of the uniform. Students should also please bring their usual uniform of a green shirt and khaki pants for their combined pieces with Chorus 1.

Polos need to be worn with khaki pantsand a belt if the pants have belt-loops. Shorts, skirts and capris are not acceptable. Hair needs to be worn off of the eyes and away from the face so that no one needs to push it away or flip their head so that they can see. All hair and make-up needs to be neutral / natural colors.

Participation in the rehearsal and choral performance each count as a grade, as stated on the syllabus at the beginning of the marking period. If there are extenuating circumstances or scheduling conflicts, please email or send a note as soon as possible.
