Please note that we are beginning our three weeks of testing this week, so please encourage rest and an early bedtime. This also means that we will begin "missing" a class period (or more) per day due to testing, please remind your student(s) that it is important to pay extra attention and use time wisely during this time.
If you haven't yet signed into Skyward, please do so at your earliest opportunity. If you never received a letter with information regarding your sign-on information please contact Tara Milow at Central Office at 352-259-6848 or Tara.Milow@tvcs.org.
HISTORY We are finishing Chapter 11 'Growth and Expansion' this week, we will NOT be having a Chapter test for this material, there will be a take home assignment that will serve as the assessment grade. Please note that students will have had work to complete by the time we have class on Wednesday this week - it is IMPERATIVE that the work be done so that we can have a meaningful review. We will begin Chapter 12 'The Jackson Era' on Friday of this week.
COMPUTERS We are continuing to work in Access, as well as continuing to complete the Code. Org work in Course 3 and 4. Please remember that all assignments can and should be revised until a grade of at least 90% is achieved.
Individual links for the Code.org each class are below and are also in Moodle - students should know their "secret words" to get into their work. They need to see me for the secret words as they are ready, they can also email me if it's after school hours and I will do my best to respond promptly.
As of 1:45pm on 4/16: All Access assignments through Access Assn #6 and the "Typing Update" work that has been submitted and/or re-submitted is graded and the grade has been posted in Skyward. As of 1:45pm on 4/16: All grades for Code.Org work are updated for Course 3 AND Course 4. We have made progress!!! If students are using their time productively in class, they should be nearing completion of Course 4. However, there are still several students that need strong encouragement to stay on task. The computer lab is open every day after school until 5:00pm and if your student is in aftercare, they should be taking advantage of this opportunity. MATH We are working on specific areas in IXL this week: Algebra - Solving Equations. Students will be required to complete work for this class while in this class, which means that they will need to take more individual responsibility over their homework and time management.
Please reinforce the importance of respecting the space and work time of others; repeated distractions make it hard for work to be done. If your student is not receiving at least a 4/5 or 5/5 each day for being "Prepared and Working" that means that time is not being spent wisely and he/she is disrupting the work environment.
