Reading is a semester long class designed to help students with the challenging reading demands of middle school. There is no assigned textbook. Students will read a variety of short stories, newspaper and magazine articles, plays and study both Latin and Greek roots. Each week on Monday, the students will study a list of given roots with the quiz on Friday.
The root of this week is sed, sess, sid to sit or settle . Students will get a list of words to study in class on Monday. Quiz is Friday.
Homework for this week: Monday: a practice page on the Sed, sess, sid root words.
Wednesday: reading practice page.
This week will be finishing our study on context clues and multiple meaning words. There is a cold read or OWL test Thursday on this skill.
Happy reading and have a great week,
PS. If your student needs another copy of the root word list, please look under the PDF file on my website. The word lists are found under the heading, First Nine Weeks Root Word Lists. We study the lists in the order they occur.
