We are now beginning math work. Please check the calendar on Monday's for "Weekly Assignments". I put the assignments for the entire week on Monday to make it easier to view. If I make a change to the daily lessons, I will mark it Updated with the date that I changed the lesson. Please note that we are doing a "Flipped Class" where the students will view a video lesson at home or after school and the assignments will be completed in class. We will not always get to all practice problems listed, so I will post, in my classroom, which practice problems the students are responsible to complete (in case of absences).
It is important to complete the assign video lesson each night as we go over the lesson the next day in class. Missing a lesson will put your student behind as they will not understand how to complete the practice problems in class.
Please read my grading structure below.
will view a short video lectures most nights.
following the video, your student will complete 3-6 questions from the concept
learned in the video.
Notes are required as part of their grade.
student will earn a quiz grade for viewing all video lectures, completing all
practice problems, and providing detailed notes from the video lecture within
If a chapter consists of ten videos, practice problems, and notes. Each lesson
is worth 10 points equaling an overall 100% quiz grade for completing all
student will complete practice problems from previous night’s video lecture
with guidance from the teacher. The
practice problems they complete in class will count as a practice grade.
ALEKS is to be completed 30 minutes a week at
home, with 28% of the concepts mastered by the end of the 1st 9 weeks, 56% by
the end of the 2nd 9 weeks, 84% mastered by the end of the 3rd 9
weeks, and 100% mastered by the end of the 4th 9 weeks. Weekly ALEKS
time will be given an assignment grade.
For example, if a student completes 25 minutes of ALEKS the first week,
they have earned practice grade for that week of 25/30 or 83%. There will be 9 practice scores each 9
weeks. The percentage completed at the
grading intervals is a test grade. The test grade will be given by percentage
of concepts mastered. For example, if at
the end of the first 9 weeks a student has mastered 25% of the skills, I will
calculate 25/28 to be 89% for their ALEKS test grade in that 9 weeks.
Quizzes and Tests
There will be 2 quizzes for every chapter. One will be a mid-chapter quiz and the second
will be for the cumulative video lectures.
completing each Chapter a test will be administered online. And at the end of
each unit will have a unit test. The
ALEKS tests grades will increase the total test grades at the end of each nine
