6th Grade Language Arts -  As we continue our baseball theme we will be reading the novel Searching for Candlestick Park by Peg Kehret.  Students will be checked out a copy of the novel from the 6th grade supply.  They will be asked to read assigned chapters throughout the next few weeks.  Tests will be given every few chapters to ensure that they are reading and comprehending the chapters they have read.  Please make sure your child keeps their copy in good condition and is reading the assigned chapters to ensure a strong start to the 4th nine weeks.

8th Grade US History: Students will be learning about how the United States grew during the early 1800s.  We will discuss this growth in terms of land, population, and the economy.  We will see how sometimes growth can be a good thing and other times it can lead to problems.  In the early 1800s those problems started to arise in the form of slavery, westward expansion, and trade.  Andrew Jackson, our 7th President, will be the topic of much discussion as we look at some of the dramatic events of his Presidency.
