Welcome back to VCMS!
I hope everyone had a fun & relaxing summer!
This month we will begin by looking at the various sources
historians must use in order to know what happened in the past. Our look into American History begins
thousands of years ago with the first human beings who arrived in the
Americas. We will proceed from these
original inhabitants to the first European settlers (you might be surprised to
learn that Christopher Columbus was not the first European settler to
“discover” North America).
2016 Washington D.C. Trip Update: Details about the 2016 8th Grade Trip to Washington D.C. can be found on the Field Trips Page. This year's trip will run during the last week of school, from May 13-18, 2016.
Meeting for the 8th Grade Trip is on August 13, 2015 at 6pm in
the VCMS Cafeteria. At the meeting, you can learn more about the 8th
grade trip, and earn PI Time for attending. If you are unable to
attend the meeting, but would like more information about the trip, please do
not hesitate to contact me at Kristofer.Atkinson@tvcs.org or by phone at
This page will be your one-stop shop for all information related to American History. On this page, you will be able to find the class syllabus and information regarding assignments/homework/projects. I will update this page on a regular basis, so I encourage you to check this page frequently. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this course.
