April 2015

During April, American History students will begin to identify the major causes for the split between the states in the North and states in the South.  Manifest Destiny, an expansionist war against Mexico, reform movements of all sorts, the discovery of gold in California, and several important federal government decisions each contribute to the outbreak of violence between the states.  By the end of the month, we will begin discussing the events surrounding the formation of the Confederate States of America and the opening battles of the American Civil War.
