Senior Parent Night Info is loaded as a PDF at the bottom of the page. Herff Jones will be here to take cap and gown orders in the cafeteria on Tuesday the 16th and Thursday the 18th. Orders can also be done online at www.herfforlando.com There is a financial aid night scheduled for the end of January 2015. More information will be available closer to the date.
There is a Careers and Colleges Expo on Thursday, Sept 18th at the College of Central Florida, Bldg 6 (the Gym) in Ocala scheduled from 5:30-7:30pm. This walk through type event will have over 40 various public and private schools from around the state of Florida and out of state. Representatives will be available for questions and some may even take college applications on site. Please call 352-854-2322 ext 1543 for more information.

Current Juniors and Seniors should be taking the SAT and ACT tests. Registration is done online at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org and more information is available in Guidance. Please see your school counselor if you get free and reduced lunch for a fee waiver for the tests.

The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is Florida's customized common placement test. The purpose of the P.E.R.T. is accurate course placement based on the student's skills and abilities. The P.E.R.T. is aligned with the Postsecondary Readiness Competencies identified by Florida faculty as necessary for success in entry-level college credit coursework. The P.E.R.T. assessment system includes Placement and Diagnostic tests in mathematics, reading and writing.
Students who score 106 or better on Reading and 103 or better on Writing portions of the PERT may be eligible for the English dual enrollment classes taught at VHS. Students who score 123 or better on the Math portion may be eligible for the math dual enrollment classes taught at VHS. Students who are eligible for the English dual enrollment classes and math dual enrollment classes may also be eligible for science dual enrollment classes.
