Administration

On behalf of the students, parents, and staff of The Villages Charter Middle School, the administrative team would like to welcome you to our website. This site offers a myriad of information that will help readers stay informed about the various activities at our school and adjacent charter schools.

Change is a part of life. We are celebrating change on campus as we begin the 2007- 2008 school year since many additions to students, parents, staff, and facilities have taken place. Here are some highlights: A major addition to the middle school has provided needed space for our new 5th grade students who are joining the middle school this year. In addition, a stage equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment has been added and new administrative offices.

All of these new facilities will help in welcoming our 650 students in grades 5 - 8. The long-range plan of The Villages Charter School is to eventually serve 2,600 students in grades kindergarten through grade 12. The total enrollment projection for this year is 1,900 students.

To meet the needs of our growing student population, the middle school staff is growing, too. With the addition this year of our 5th grade, our caring and competent teaching staff will number forty-nine certified teachers. We are also grateful to wonderful and expert support staff in our offices to meet the needs of our students.

Finally, the entire administrative team is new to their positions this year. Dr. Mark Pienkos will serve as principal, with Mrs. Jennifer Cowart (assigned to 5th and 6th grade students) and Mr. Joel Dreher (assigned to 7th and 8th grade students) after both being promoted to vice-principal. They come to their new responsibilities with experience working with young people throughout their careers and a sincere desire to help “kids of all ages” grow.

Our middle school curriculum is extremely challenging. Our high caliber activities, both inside and outside the classroom, stretch well beyond the traditional school day. They allow our young people to experience all areas of enrichment that allows them to grow in mind, body, and spirit.

Our beautiful campus sets the stage for our students to obtain the necessary tools to become successful, well-rounded, and responsible individuals thriving with an entrepreneurial spirit. A dedicated team of instructors delivers Florida’s Sunshine State Standards in a manner that allows students to excel in a rich core curriculum and extracurricular activities.

The demands of the 21st century make it essential that we provide technology experiences that will ready our students for life beyond the classroom. We are very proud of the most up-to-date technology that is available to our students and staff. Students will exit the middle school with an expert knowledge of many software programs, as well as access to the latest remedial and tutorial programs.

Our Buffalo Adventures program provides students with enrichment activities beyond the school day. Buffalo Adventures has something for everyone. Activities are available for all our students in an environment that promotes growth, individuality, and respect.

Finally, please check our principal’s, Dr. Pienkos, weekly message entitled “Principal’s Bulletin Board. Each Friday afternoon, a new message will be posted highlighting the past week’s activities, as well as providing a glimpse of the upcoming week’s offerings.

Please feel free to contact us often with your ideas and suggestions. Together, we can – and will – do great things! GO BUFFALOS!
